william eggleston

i chose this photograph by William Eggleston because it reminds me of how a store worker would look years back. The background is interesting because it is blurry making the eye focus more on the boy and the shopping carts. Also the shadow was a nice touch. the subject is in the front of the photograph or the foreground (if thats what you call it) and i certainly look at the boy more than anything else.

the POWER of still photography

Still photography can be powerful in many ways. A photograph can capture many different things. A photograph can capture an important day in someone's life such as a wedding or a birth of a child. A photograph captures memories good and bad along with its emotions at the time or even create new or different feelings; such as one's childhood or a photograph of an ex and yourself together. A photograph can also show a world event such as 9/11 or the Olympics, so we never forget the significance of such events. It can even show the beauty of the simplest form such nature on a rainy day. One still photograph can mean many different things according to the viewer; this is why still photography can be so powerful and important.
For example, the photograph above was taken the moment I set eyes on my God-child Adrianna Ly. This moment is one i will never forget and every time i look at this picture i can remember the joy of seeing not only my God-child but my niece. Also it shows the joy of giving birth to a child and what those nine months of hard work and pain can bring.
